House of Heat: "Jordan Brand’s UNITE campaign is digging deeper into the culture that surrounds basketball culture — it’s empowering it. The Brand has released a series of shorts and interviews with artists, athletes, musicians and more that spruiks the following message: In this family, no one flies alone. Now, the brand will be releasing its first collaborative sneaker from the movement, by letting Chicagoan bespoke designer Sheila Rashid loose on the Air Jordan 1 Mid.

Her pieces engage the conversation around gender identity, with her unisex brand making waves across the scene, with acts like Zendaya and Chance the Rapper eager to flex her made-to-order clothing. That 1-of-1 aspect may fall by the wayside here, with this upcoming Air Jordan 1 produced at scale, but it does capture her unisex approach by embracing both her tomboy and feminine qualities. The split-blocking rocks and all-purple front end decked out in buttery tumbled leathers, while the rear is reserved for tonal greys, with shaggy suede and leather material makeup. Liners look plush, while tongues arrive in the standard nylon — but they do arrive with premium debossed leather tongue tags and cream taping. Completing the design is a special set of co-branded, split-colored insoles to align with the sneaker’s overall design."
